I am fortunate (and healthy enough) that I have another opportunity to participate in the World's Longest Hockey Game to help raise critically-needed funds for cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY. This year the event will run from July 5 - 15 at Buffalo Harbor Center with each team participating in 3 hour community shifts for 11 straight days - 264 continuous hours!!

As I reflect from the last years event, I can't thank all of you enough for your contributions for this outstanding cause. I had such an incredible time representing this event while being able to share this with my entire family is something that will always be remembered.

This year I am suiting up again and will be playing a 3 hour game with some of my best friends and hockey buddies. There is not a minute that goes by, especially during this game, that I can't explain how good I feel about what we are doing for our community and ultimately the impact for all involved. My shift this year is Saturday July 6th from 3 - 6 PM.

I will be playing in honor of all people and families impacted by cancer with a special dedication to my family members:

My Mom, Mary Anne Bach, and Step-Dad, Jim Bach, who both are cancer survivors and fighting it everyday

My Father-in-Law, Dan Mikula, who continues to battle daily

And in memory of my Dad, Bill "Poppy" Schwartz, Grandpa Iggy and Uncle Jack who unfortunately lost the battle but will always be remembered.

Thank you in advance for helping me and my family raise money for Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make A Wish Foundation.  We appreciate your support and donations for this great cause.

ABOUT 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift

This summer, more than 2,500 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous shifts at Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. This important event supports The 11 Day Power Play, raising critically-needed funds for cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY. While it is physically challenging to play in a marathon hockey game, it's a walk in the park compared to what most endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make an impact in our community. In the past two years, The 11 Day Power Play has raised nearly $2.5 million supporting cancer causes in Western New York.

Donations are graciously accepted online or by check. Please write checks out to 'The 11 Day Power Play' and send to PO Box 4, Buffalo, NY 14223. If you are interested in a sponsorship, contact Sara Schumacher today.
