2017:  11 straight days of 4 hours on, 8 hours off!  Many blisters and sores...

2018:  pared it down to five 4-hour shifts and one ref shift, but still got blisters!

2019:  five shifts for sure, but in all 3 events, the goal is still the same!:  Raising critical funds for landmark Cancer Research at Rosewell, and to assist families fighting cancer!

It's a rare person that goes through life and is not effected in some way by Cancer.  I will be playing hockey with my BK29 Group to raise money for critically-needed funds for cutting-edge research at Roswell Park Cancer .   I will be skating to Honor loved ones that have passed on due to Cancer:  My beloved Father (1990) , my wonderfull Aunt Anne of Cleveland, my Wife's Brother, Navy Veteran John (2014), and childhood friend Dave F (2013).  And of course, to help those still in the fight!   Like my Brother-In-Law Tom down in Tampa and Jim in Ithaca!

BK29 is a group of 25-30 players that get together on Monday nights during the winter months to play a "friendly" game of pick-up Hockey in honor of Billy Kaminska, who died from Cancer.

My personal fund raining goal is $1,100, and I am intent on exceeding it!  Please consider making a donation today.   Just $10 from 101 people will exceed my goal!  No donation is too small, and every dollar adds up to something greater than any one of us could accomplish alone.  With the help of my Family and Friends, I can meet, and exceed this goal.

ABOUT 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift

This summer, more than 2,500 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous shifts at Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. This important event supports The 11 Day Power Play, raising critically-needed funds for cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY. While it is physically challenging to play in a marathon hockey game, it's a walk in the park compared to what most endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make an impact in our community. In the past two years, The 11 Day Power Play has raised nearly $2.5 million supporting cancer causes in Western New York.

Donations are graciously accepted online or by check. Please write checks out to 'The 11 Day Power Play' and send to PO Box 4, Buffalo, NY 14223. If you are interested in a sponsorship, contact Sara Schumacher today.
