Folks,,,,

You see this? You hear about this?

We've all been affected by cancer. There is no way around it. We cannot change the past, but each and everyone of us has an opportunity to make a difference to better our future and of those we love.

Again, this year I am skating again in the 11 Day Powerplay to do my small part in making that difference. Hockey was my first love. Ever since my brother Michael took me to Clearfield to learn how to skate, he brought me to St. Joe's practice, games or in the locker room at Michigan State. The skating, the sometimes even brutal physicallity, and the best part the chance to play and grow with great people. I could go on and on. I still have that burning love for the game that I was truly blessed to be able to play the last 25+ years.

But thats exactly what it is. It's a game. And the greatest part of the 11Day Powerplay is it brings the greatest cause, and the greatest game together with one common goal; Beat Cancer.

Every dollar, every penny matters. $5? We will take it....$100...Even better. It all goes to the fight of our lives!

So join me in the fight!

I'll be playing for the following

Gerald Gentner- Truly the greatest man I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Coached me in life on many things, but above all...Just Show Up

Mary Carol Viola- A gentle and kind soul, who put up with me for many years as a youngster, forever grateful for her kindness.

Timothy Sutton- This man, this man knew how to light up a room. His infectious smile and personality, you always were in for fun when Tim was around. He is missed greatly.

Jonathan Domres- JD is also skating in this years 11day, at age 13 he bravely fought and beat Non-Hodkins Lymphoma. A college teammate of mine, but an even better friend, completley selfless and always putting his best effort for those around him. KIDS GONNA BE A DAD!

Thank you any and all for taking the time to read my page, I am so excited to participate once again this year for the only fight that matters...The fight for life!

ABOUT 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift

This summer, more than 2,500 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous shifts at Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. This important event supports The 11 Day Power Play, raising critically-needed funds for cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY. While it is physically challenging to play in a marathon hockey game, it's a walk in the park compared to what most endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make an impact in our community. In the past two years, The 11 Day Power Play has raised nearly $2.5 million supporting cancer causes in Western New York.

Donations are graciously accepted online or by check. Please write checks out to 'The 11 Day Power Play' and send to PO Box 4, Buffalo, NY 14223. If you are interested in a sponsorship, contact Sara Schumacher today.
