Growing up In Buffalo NY and being born into a hockey family has been a blessing. Since the the age of 4 I’ve always had hockey. For the past 17 years hockey has always been my escape from reality, no matter what was going on in my life the second I stepped onto a sheet of ice all of those problems disappeared. Hockey has allowed me to make lifelong friendships and everlasting memories that I often reminisce. 

The 11 Day Powerplay is an amazing opportunity to raise money for an amazing cause while doing something I love. As soon as I heard there was an opportunity to participate in this year’s event I jumped on it right away. I think this event is a great representation of Buffalo NY and how close knit the community is. The people of Buffalo are always there for each other in times of need, no questions asked.

With that being said there are people from our community that need our help. Several members of my own family as well as loved ones of friends have battled the fight against cancer, some were victorious in their fight while others were not. The 11 Day Powerplay was able to raise 1.2 Million dollars for Roswell Park Cancer Institute during its inaugural year in 2017. This year with your help we hope to top that number. No donation is too small and everything is greatly appreciated. Thank You

This summer, more than 1,700 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2018 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous, four-hour shifts at HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York. Each shift will feature two new teams. The purpose of this important event is to raise critically-needed funds for important local cancer causes, including: cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; supporting programs that improve quality of life for children, adults and families affected by cancer through Camp Good Days; and, granting wishes and amazing experiences to kids with life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, by Make-A-Wish Western New York. Although it may be physically challenging for our players to play four continuous hours of hockey, it will be a walk in the park compared to what some people have to endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make a difference, a big difference.
