CANCER STINKS!

Like a crusty old hockey bag filled with ripe equipment, it's just rotten.

Sadly, cancer has hit all of us like a dirty check from behind.

Family, friends, classmates, coworkers - and maybe even yourself - have battled this horrible disease punch for punch. Some have pounded it to smithereens, while others lost the fight, but shine on in our hearts.

To help shut out cancer once and for all, some lifelong friends and I are throwing on our smelly old gear to participate in the 11-Day Power Play Community Shift. We'll play a continuous 4-hour shift at HarborCenter in Buffalo on July 11 from 10 p.m. - 1:50 a.m. (I know...late...or maybe it's early!)

It would be great if you came down to cheer us on! It would be even better if you made a financial contribution! You can easily donate using the button off to the right.

I've set a goal of $500 for myself, but I'm sure, with your support, I can far surpass that number. 

UPDATE 1: I've increased my goal to $1,000 thanks to the unbelievable generosity of friends and family!

UPDATE 2: OK, so people really hate cancer. I get it. New goal - $1,500!

This summer, more than 1,700 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2018 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous, four-hour shifts at HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York. Each shift will feature two new teams. The purpose of this important event is to raise critically-needed funds for important local cancer causes, including: cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; supporting programs that improve quality of life for children, adults and families affected by cancer through Camp Good Days; and, granting wishes and amazing experiences to kids with life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, by Make-A-Wish Western New York. Although it may be physically challenging for our players to play four continuous hours of hockey, it will be a walk in the park compared to what some people have to endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make a difference, a big difference. You can help make a big difference by supporting our players' efforts in The 11 Day Power Play Community Shift.
